In Kyoto, there still remain buildings with fine gratings, Kyo-Koushi. Those buildings are called Machiya and create unique atmosphere. In the Muromachi Era, Ko-Shouami, who was living in Kyoto, found beauty in Machiya and skillfully copied the beauty in a piece of iron which is just about 3 sun (approximately 9 cm). Fine and handsome gratings require superior techniques as Kyoto’s Heianjo Tsuba of the same era also does. Since this Tsuba was born from high sensibility and solid technique, it would be perfect to use it for Tensho-Koshirae. We assure that the true value of this Tsuba will be re-acknowledged when it is fitted to an elegant Tensho-Koshirae.
