This Tsuba, a master piece by Shouami, carries a ghoulish name “Kubi-tsunagi.” This style is common in Owari, especially among the Yagyu Tsuba. The Yagyu call it Kubi-tsunagi to express the mysteries of martial arts as well as martial achievements. Its rugged design is indeed matching the Yagyu of martial arts, concealing their teachings of swords. The color, big-boned structure and humorous composition of this Tsuba can be matched with a simple black saya to sharpen its appearance and create a sense of intensity.
